iPhone background-removal guide
Private Background Remover for iPhone
Remove BG & Eraser processes selected photos locally on your device. Background removal does not require uploading your photos to a Remove BG server, and the app does not require a Remove BG account.
Remove BG & Eraser includes 3 free exports and an optional one-time Lifetime Unlock. No subscription.
What does on-device background removal mean here?
The Remove BG Privacy Policy states that selected photos are processed locally on your device. Remove BG does not upload them to Liamyte or third-party services for image processing. The homepage also describes background removal and photo editing as on-device operations.
This describes where the app's editing work happens. It does not mean every service on your iPhone is local. Apple services, photo-library settings and the destinations you choose for exports are separate from Remove BG's own processing.
For the editing workflow, you choose a photo, create the automatic cutout, refine it with erase and restore if needed, then select transparency or a replacement background. These product features do not require a server-side Remove BG photo library.
Do I need an account or a photo upload?
No Remove BG account is required. According to the policy, Liamyte does not collect your photos or local app data from the app. There is no Remove BG account or server-side photo library to delete.
You provide an image when you choose content for editing. The app accesses photos or files when you choose to provide or save content using its features. Where an iOS permission has been granted, the policy says you can review, change or revoke it in iOS Settings.
An Apple account used for App Store purchases is a separate matter. The absence of a Remove BG account does not remove the role of Apple in downloads, purchases or purchase restoration.
Are there ads, tracking or analytics SDKs?
The policy states that the app does not include third-party advertising, tracking or analytics SDKs. It also says the app does not share photos or local app data with third parties for advertising, tracking, analytics or image processing. The homepage describes the app as having no ads and no tracking.
These statements concern the app's documented practices. The policy separately explains that Apple may process purchase, analytics or diagnostic information through its services, according to Apple's privacy practices and your device settings. That distinction matters when evaluating what “on-device” covers.
What happens to settings and exported images?
Remove BG may store settings and app state locally so its features work correctly. The policy says Liamyte does not receive this local data. Local app data remains while the app is installed and is removed when you delete the app, with exceptions for information managed separately by Apple or content exported elsewhere.
Images you choose to save are stored in the destination you select and are not retained by Liamyte. Exporting is a user choice: a transparent PNG, for example, can later be placed in another app or shared through a service you choose.
Consider that destination separately. If you save or share an image into a service with cloud storage, its own settings and privacy practices apply. Likewise, Apple Photos or iCloud behavior is separate from Remove BG's local editing. On-device processing is not a promise that an exported image can never reach another service.
How are the free exports and Lifetime Unlock handled?
The homepage offers 3 free exports and an optional one-time Lifetime Unlock for unlimited use. There is no subscription. The privacy policy says in-app purchases and purchase restoration are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit.
Liamyte does not receive or store payment card information. Apple may process purchase information under its own practices. These purchase operations should be considered separately from the local background-removal and photo-editing workflow.
What if I contact support?
If you contact Liamyte for support, the company receives the information you choose to include in your message and uses it to respond. The policy says correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably necessary, and you may request deletion where applicable.
Review a message and any attachments before sending them. Information you deliberately send to support is different from a photo selected for local editing. You can contact support@liamyte.com for privacy questions or requests.
Use the policy alongside the editing guides
The practical privacy benefit is specific: you can remove and refine a photo background on your device without creating a Remove BG account or uploading the photo for the app's image processing. You still control which photo to provide and where to export the result.
Read the current policy for the full details, including Apple services, permissions and retention. The related guides below explain the actual removal and transparent-export steps, so you can assess both how the app edits a photo and how its documented data practices fit your needs.
